US President Donald Trump is due to visit Beijing from May 13 to 15 for high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The discussions are expected to focus primarily on trade, Iran, and regional security issues.
This would be the first visit by a US president to China since 2017. Donald Trump is expected to push Beijing to reconsider its position on Iran, from which China remains a major oil buyer, while also seeking to ease trade tensions between the world's two largest economies.
Originally planned for earlier in the year, the visit had been postponed due to the conflict involving Iran.
Despite persistent disagreements over Taiwan, tariffs and the Middle East, the White House indicates that this trip will combine diplomacy and symbols, including a state dinner and a visit to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.
US authorities hope to secure "good deals" for the United States and revive direct dialogue with China, considered a major strategic rival.
