According to the doctor, the liver is involved in the processes of digesting food and metabolizing carbohydrates and fats, in addition to its role in eliminating toxins. She noted that it is an organ with the ability to self-regenerate, but it needs nutritional support to maintain its efficiency.

She explained that liver health can be enhanced by introducing a range of beneficial foods into the daily diet, most notably vegetables such as broccoli, Chinese cabbage, and leafy greens such as lettuce and cabbage, in addition to avocados, beets, and carrots, because they contain antioxidants that help protect liver cells from damage.

The recommendations also include fruits such as bananas, lemons, and grapefruits, which contribute to providing the body with antioxidants and supporting cell regeneration. Oats are also considered important foods, as they contain fiber and beta-glucan, which help reduce inflammation and lower the risk of fatty liver disease.

She added that berries of all kinds, such as blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that support the immune system and protect the liver from oxidative stress.

She pointed out that fatty fish are an important source of omega-3 fatty acids, which contribute to improving metabolism and reducing inflammation at the cellular level, recommending eating them three times a week, or using fish oil supplements when needed.

It also recommended including nuts such as walnuts, almonds and cashews in moderation, given their richness in healthy fats and antioxidants, while being careful not to overindulge in them due to their high calorie content.

She pointed to the benefits of virgin olive oil in reducing oxidative stress and improving liver function, in addition to the role of green tea in providing antioxidants that may contribute to the prevention of some diseases.

Natural juices were also considered a good source of vitamins and minerals, with an emphasis on the importance of consuming them in moderation.

She concluded by noting that coffee may have a positive effect on liver metabolism and may contribute to reducing the risk of fatty liver disease and chronic diseases, as well as some types of cancer, provided that it is consumed in moderation not exceeding two cups a day.
