Enzo Maresca officially takes over as Manchester City manager

Manchester City has appointed Enzo Maresca as its new manager to replace Pep Guardiola starting next season, after the Premier League club issued an official statement today.

"Manchester City is delighted to confirm the appointment of Enzo Maresca as head coach. The Italian has signed a three-year contract until the summer of 2029," the club said on its website.

The 46-year-old coach previously managed City's academy team and was Guardiola's assistant when the club won the domestic treble in the 2018/2019 season.

"Manchester City is a club I know very well and to have the opportunity to lead this team is a great thing for me," said Maresca.

"I can't wait to start coaching them. I want us to be successful, play attractive football, and enjoy the pressure of representing Manchester City," he continued.

Maresca's coaching career began with Parma in 2021, but he only lasted 14 games with four wins.
