The Tasnim news agency, which is close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, reported that various areas of the country were subjected to new Israeli attacks, including an attack in Hamadan province in the northwest of the country on Monday morning, following the missiles that Iran launched at Israel on Sunday.
Nour News Agency reported that explosions were heard in southern Tehran.
A spokesman for the Tehran administration said that underground parking areas are being prepared for use as shelters.
Iranian media had previously reported hearing explosions and the activation of air defenses in the capital, Tehran.
The Mehr News Agency denied the reports circulating on social media regarding an attack on Shiraz Airport.
Tasnim news agency reported that the airport suspended its operations until 23:00 local time (19:30 GMT).
Earlier on Monday, the Israeli military announced that its air force had bombed a petrochemical complex in southwestern Iran.
The army said in a statement that “the air force, under the direction of military intelligence, struck several targets in the petrochemical complex in the city of Mahshahr in southwestern Iran a short time ago,” without providing further details.
Iranian state media reported the evacuation of the petrochemical special economic zone in Mahshahr.
Iran's Mehr news agency reported that the Karun Petrochemical Company complex was damaged by several Israeli shells.
The agency quoted Valiollah Hayati, deputy head of security and law enforcement in Khuzestan province (southwest of the country), as saying, “The Karun Petrochemical Company was attacked by the Zionist enemy, and part of this industrial complex was damaged as a result of being hit by shells.”
The agency added that no injuries or loss of life were reported as a result of the Israeli airstrike on the industrial complex.
The Israeli military announced that it had bombed military targets in western and central Iran, as part of a series of airstrikes that it said targeted sites belonging to the Iranian regime.
In the same context, Israeli media reported that the airstrikes targeted Mehrabad Airport in the capital, Tehran, as well as a warehouse used to store attack drones, noting that the Israeli Air Force carried out the attacks from outside Iranian airspace.
Israeli Channel 14 also reported that Israeli aircraft continue to carry out attacks on targets inside Iranian territory.
The Israeli website “Walla” reported that Israeli army aircraft targeted more than 10 sites inside Iran, including air defense systems and ballistic missile platforms.
In contrast, Iranian state media reported hearing explosions in several areas, including at least three explosions in Isfahan, two powerful explosions in the capital Tehran, and explosions in the vicinity of Karaj. The Mehr news agency reported hearing powerful explosions in Tehran, and Iranian television said that explosions were recorded in Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan.
