The southern suburbs of Beirut were subjected to Israeli raids on Sunday afternoon, directed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of War Yisrael Katz . The Israeli army announced that it attacked a Hezbollah headquarters in the suburbs in response to the continued firing of rockets from Lebanon.
The Lebanese News Agency reported that “an airstrike targeted two apartments in the areas of Mreijeh and Tahwita al-Ghadir, resulting in two martyrs and 11 wounded, according to initial reports.”
In this context, Iran’s chief negotiator and parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that the naval blockade imposed on Iran and the green light given by the United States today to Israel turn American and Israeli bases and assets in the region into legitimate targets for Iran.
Qalibaf added, in a clear reference to the United States and Israel, “They do not adhere to a ceasefire and do not believe in dialogue. Through the naval blockade and the violation of agreements related to Lebanon, they have shown that they understand only the language of force.”
Iranian parliamentarian Ebrahim Rezaei said on Sunday that Tehran would respond "harshly" to the Israeli attack on Beirut's southern suburbs.
Hezbollah announced today that it had carried out military operations targeting Israeli army positions, gatherings, and vehicles in southern Lebanon, in response to what it described as “the Israeli enemy’s violation of the ceasefire and the attacks that targeted southern villages and resulted in martyrs and injuries among civilians.”
In a series of consecutive statements, he said that “his fighters targeted, between 00:00 and 02:00, a gathering of Israeli army vehicles and soldiers on the southeastern outskirts of the town of Yahmar al-Shaqif with rocket salvos and artillery shells.”
He added that “at 01:20 he targeted an Israeli Merkava tank on the southern outskirts of Haddatha using ‘appropriate weapons,’ before announcing at 02:35 the shelling of another gathering of Israeli vehicles and soldiers on the southeastern outskirts of Yahmar al-Shaqif with artillery shells.”
In another operation, the party reported that it “targeted at 03:00 a gathering of Israeli army soldiers on the southern outskirts of the town of Haddatha with two Ababil dive drones,” and also announced “carrying out an air attack at 12:30 targeting an Israeli army command headquarters in the town of Naqoura with an Ababil dive drone.”
Among the attacks, a gathering of Israeli army vehicles and soldiers in the town of Al-Bayada was targeted with a rocket salvo, with reports of a clash with an enemy force that attempted to advance from the Shaqif Al-Naml area on the outskirts of the town of Al-Tiri towards the town of Hadatha, using light and medium weapons. It was targeted with artillery shells and forced to retreat.
The party also targeted a gathering of vehicles and soldiers of the Israeli enemy army in the Shaqif al-Naml area on the outskirts of the town of Al-Tiri with artillery shells in three waves.
In this context, President Donald Trump called on Israel to be more precise in its strikes, which it says target Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“I would like to see Lebanon have a better life. I would like to see a more precise attack on Hezbollah,” Trump told NBC’s “Meet the Press” in an interview recorded Friday and broadcast Sunday. He added that he believed such an attack should be “more surgical.”
