Luke Vickery responds to his naturalization: "It's been a long-standing dream of mine"

Footballer Luke Anthony Vickery responded to his naturalization process by stating that becoming an Indonesian citizen (WNI) and representing the Indonesian national team was a dream he had longed for.

"Of course, this (naturalization) has been a long-standing dream of mine. This is a very emotional and meaningful moment for my family because my grandmother was born there (in Indonesia)," said Luke Anthony Vickery during a virtual meeting with Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir at the House of Representatives Commission X working meeting.

Luke and Mitchell Lee Baker are two prospective players for the Indonesian national team. Both players, of mixed Australian-Indonesian descent, are currently undergoing the naturalization process to become Indonesian citizens. Their naturalization applications, submitted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, have been approved by Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), for further processing.

Luke stated that the naturalization process was a source of pride for him and his family. He hoped that all the necessary steps would go smoothly so that he could soon join the Garuda squad in various international competitions.
