West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal said his region is ready to host the 2028 National Games , with a number of competitions being held as warm-up events in preparation for the largest multi-sport event in Indonesia.
"In the last two years alone, we have held many competitions as warm-ups to demonstrate our commitment to hosting the 2028 National Games," said Lalu Muhammad Iqbal in a press conference following a consolidation meeting on preparations for the 2028 National Games.
He explained that NTB, as the host of the 2028 PON (along with East Nusa Tenggara and DKI as supporting cities), has held various major events that demonstrate its ability to organize the PON.
He mentioned several major events, such as the 2025 National Sports Festival . He said the event ran smoothly, with approximately 18,000 people from across Indonesia in attendance.
In addition, the 2025 Pocari Sweat Run event was attended by around 9,000 participants and the 2025 Mandalika MotoGP event.
