Orlando Gill is happy his two saves got Paraguay into the last 16

Paraguay national team goalkeeper Orlando Gill was overjoyed after his two saves against Germany's penalty taker helped his team advance to the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup.

After a 120-minute draw at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, United States, Tuesday WIB, Gill successfully helped Paraguay win the round of 32 match via a penalty shootout 3-2 by thwarting two German penalty takers.

"Thankfully, I managed to save two penalties. It's an honor: we eliminated the champions. I dedicate this to all the Paraguayans," Gill said after the match, as reported on the official FIFA website.

Gill entered the penalty shootout having injected huge confidence into Paraguay after he saved Germany's first penalty kick, Kai Havertz.

The Argentinian club San Lorenzo's goalkeeper then did the same by stopping the shot from German striker Nick Woltemade who was tasked with taking Der Panzer's fourth kick.

Then, Germany's sixth penalty taker, Jonathan Tah, sent a penalty kick high over the crossbar, followed by Jose Canela, Paraguay's sixth penalty taker, who beat Manuel Neuer to secure La Albirroja's qualification to the last 16.
