Persija has officially extended the contract of Indonesian striker Eksel Runtukahu to the 2026/2027 season.
Quoted from a press release received , Persija Jakarta's decision to retain Eksel Runtukahu is inseparable from the contribution he made in the 2025/2026 season.
Persija president Mohamad Prapanca believes Eksel has the ability to continue developing after his first season with the Kemayoran Tigers.
He has high hopes for Eksel to make an even bigger contribution to Persija in the 2026/2027 competition season.
"Last season, Eksel responded well to our trust. We truly appreciate it. Now, we have agreed to continue working together and hope that Eksel will return to the team next season with a higher level of play," said Prapanca.
Meanwhile, Eksel is ready to continue his struggle with Persija Jakarta and he is ambitious to make a positive contribution to the Kemayoran Tigers.
"One definite target is to win the title. I will work harder in training to further sharpen my goal-scoring instincts," said Eksel.
Eksel successfully stole the show while wearing a Persija uniform during the 2025/2026 season. He ended the season as one of the most prolific local strikers, scoring six goals in 23 appearances.
Four teams fell victim to his prowess last season. Eksel scored against Persis (1), Arema FC (2), and Persik (1) in the first round, and Persebaya (2) in the second round
Another positive statistical note, Eksel also recorded one assist, released 33 shots with 18 of them on target.
