Poltracking public satisfaction scores is the government's capital to maintain the economy

The Poltracking Indonesia survey institute assessed that the level of public satisfaction with the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, which reached 72.2 percent, is important social capital for the government in maintaining economic stability.

Poltracking Indonesia researcher Ahmad Zia Fitrahuddin, in presenting the results of a survey entitled " Evaluation of Government Performance and Current Strategic Issues," which was followed online in Jakarta on Thursday, assessed that the public satisfaction level above 70 percent is an important asset for the government entering the second year of its term to maintain economic stability, strengthen public purchasing power, and increase the effectiveness of development programs.

He said that the achievement of this satisfaction level provides sufficient space for the government to continue priority programs, especially those directly related to the needs of the community.

According to him, the biggest challenge that needs the government's attention currently lies in the microeconomic sector, which touches everyday life.

Although the public satisfaction level with the Prabowo-Gibran administration reached 72.2 percent, Poltracking noted that the economic sector still had the lowest satisfaction level compared to other sectors, namely 59.2 percent.

"This data confirms that the economic issue is a microeconomic one. So, it's not just BI (Bank Indonesia) policy, or the Rp 200 trillion policy announced by the government to Himbara banks and others, but also microeconomics. This means controlling the prices of basic necessities," Zia said.

The survey, conducted on May 11-17, 2026, of 1,220 respondents, showed that public trust in the Prabowo-Gibran administration reached 74.2 percent. Meanwhile, satisfaction with President Prabowo's personal performance was 73.2 percent, and with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's performance was 66.8 percent.

Poltracking also found that 67.1 percent of the public admitted to being affected by the increase in non-subsidized fuel prices, with the biggest impact being the increase in the price of basic necessities felt by 53.8 percent of respondents.

In addition, the government's success rate in controlling the prices of basic necessities was assessed at 45.2 percent, reducing unemployment by 50.8 percent, and creating 54.3 percent of jobs.

Poltracking noted that several sectors received high public appreciation, including health with a satisfaction rating of 75.4 percent, defense and security with a rating of 74.5 percent, and education with a rating of 72.5 percent. Furthermore, the public rated the government as quite successful in maintaining interfaith harmony (80 percent), maintaining security (77.8 percent), and maintaining national unity (77.4 percent).

However, Zia believes the government needs to ensure that various economic policies directly address the needs of the community to maintain public satisfaction.

"So when people ask about microeconomics, answer with a microeconomics program. When asked about macroeconomics, answer with macroeconomics, even though these two components are interrelated," he said.

Meanwhile, Poltracking Principal Researcher Masduri Amrawi said the relatively stable public satisfaction figures over the past few months should serve as a foundation for continued policy improvements, particularly in sectors that still receive lower public ratings, such as the economy and law enforcement.

"If the methodological or statistical calculations are stagnant due to the margin of error in our survey, it indicates that there is a problem, a problem occurring in our republic. That's why the government, no matter how small, must take any public criticism very seriously," Masduri said.

He added that responding to public criticism is important so that the currently strong public support can be converted into successful government programs that have a direct impact on the welfare of citizens.
