Eight Alpha Jets from the French Air and Space Force flew over New York City, tracing the colors blue, white, and red, to the delight of numerous residents and visitors gathered along the Hudson River. This aerial display was part of the "Liberté 250" mission, organized in anticipation of the American Independence Day celebrations planned for 2026. The event commemorates France's crucial support for the American colonies during their War of Independence against Great Britain. The Statue of Liberty, a gift from France to the United States and inaugurated in 1886, served as an iconic backdrop for this symbolic aerial ceremony. According to Commander Brice Beaudouin, this mission is a unique opportunity to celebrate the values of liberty and the historical ties that bind the two countries. The deployment of the Patrouille de France will continue until July 5 with several demonstrations planned in Maryland and Virginia, as well as in Washington, D.C., and New York City. Beyond its commemorative nature, this tour also aims to showcase the expertise of the French Air and Space Force while strengthening Franco-American diplomatic and cultural relations in the lead-up to the July 4th festivities.
