The US military said Sunday that the United States bombed radar systems and drone control sites in southern Iran over the weekend.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on X, “US Central Command conducted defensive strikes against radar systems and drone control sites in Goruk and Qeshm Island this weekend,” adding that the strikes were in response to the downing of a US MQ-1 drone.
The Central Command explained that US fighter jets responded by destroying Iranian air defenses, a ground control station, and two one-way attack drones, noting that no US military personnel were harmed.
The two sides also exchanged blows last week, with Iran targeting a US airbase after the US military, according to an official in Washington, carried out strikes targeting an Iranian drone operation near the Strait of Hormuz .
