Veda Ega Pratama, a 17-year-old from Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, has completed seven races in the 2026 Moto3 season. But he has had mixed feelings about the ups and downs, records, and history Veda has made for Indonesia during his racing career.
At the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, on March 1, 2026, in his Moto3 World Championship debut, the Honda Team Asia rider managed to finish fifth. A rare result for a GP rookie. Since then, Veda's journey from Thailand to Mugello, seven rounds later, has shown a career trajectory that hasn't always been smooth.
Veda was born in Wonosari . Influenced by his father, who competed in the national Supersport 600 series, he has been riding mini GP since the age of five. Building on that foundation, his track record before Moto3 was solid. Veda dominated the 2023 Asia Talent Cup in his second season, winning nine of the twelve races and securing the championship one round ahead of schedule.
The following year, he moved up to the Red Bull Rookies Cup . In his debut in the series, Veda secured several top-10 finishes and a third-place finish at the Red Bull Ring . He finished eighth in the final standings in his first year at RBRC.
The 2025 Rookies Cup season was the most crucial stage before moving on to Moto3. Veda established himself as a major title contender, taking his first victory at Mugello, becoming the first Indonesian to win in the series. He immediately doubled his victory with a second victory at the same circuit. He finished the season as runner-up in the Rookies Cup , just 55 points behind champion Brian Uriarte. This achievement opened the door for Honda Team Asia.
