Reuters reported that Germany will finance the supply of 50,000 attack drones to Ukraine, in one of the largest Western support deals of its kind for Kyiv.
According to Reuters, the deal includes Shrike drones, which will be produced by the Ukrainian company Skyfall and equipped with software developed by the American defense technology company Auterion.
Auterion CEO Lorenz Mayer said the contract is worth about 90 million euros, noting that part of the drones have already been delivered to Ukraine, while the rest are expected to be sent during 2026.
Meyer added that Auterion, in partnership with a number of equipment manufacturers and with financial support from Western governments, is involved in projects aimed at supplying Ukraine with a total of about 100,000 drones.
For its part, Skyfall confirmed its participation in the project, but did not disclose further details about the agreement.
This move comes amid continued Western military support for Ukraine, at a time when Russia maintains that arms supplies to Kyiv are hindering political settlement efforts and increasing NATO countries' involvement in the conflict.
Russian officials have also stated that arms shipments destined for Ukraine are legitimate targets for Russian forces.
