Thousands of Airbus workers in Spain began a strike at one of the company's largest factories, protesting what they described as deteriorating working conditions and demanding better wages and stronger employee rights.

The strike, led by the Independent Union of Aviation Professionals (SIPA), began on July 1st and is scheduled to continue until the end of the month. Approximately 3,000 of the company's nearly 9,000 employees at its factory in Getafe, south of Madrid, are participating in the protest.

The employees' demands revolve around improving the work environment, maintaining the flexibility of the hybrid work system and remote work, in addition to raising wages in line with the company's performance and financial results, as well as objecting to some administrative decisions that the unions believe have affected the benefits and rights of workers.

The Getafe plant is one of Airbus's most prominent facilities in Spain, and since the start of the strike, it has witnessed protest movements demanding that a dialogue be opened with the company's management in order to reach an agreement that ends these existing disputes.

This labor escalation comes at a time when Airbus continues to achieve strong financial results, with unions stressing the need for the company's growth to be reflected in the conditions of workers, while the company's management points to the continuation of production operations and work to ensure the continuity of industrial activity.
