Apple will introduce a video playback feature in CarPlay through the iOS 27 update that will allow users to search for and play videos directly from the infotainment screen of a compatible vehicle while the car is stationary.
Quoted from Gizmochina, Friday, the new feature was introduced by Apple at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2026 and is intended for vehicles that support CarPlay.
Apple states that video playback can only be performed when the vehicle is stopped. When the car starts moving, the system will automatically stop the video display and switch to audio mode to ensure safe driving.
Through this feature, users will be able to browse the video catalog, select content, and play it directly from the CarPlay interface without having to operate the iPhone.
