Following the incident of drinking acid instead of water, this article explains the precautions to take when purchasing bottled water from the market.
Often, when traveling in a hurry during the summer or monsoon season, we forget to pack a water bottle. Buying a bottle from the market is a common occurrence, but did you know that even a small negligence can be very detrimental to your health? A recent case in India has everyone thinking. Yes, a shocking incident came to light where a young woman, thinking it was a bottle of water, purchased a liquid from a nearby shop, but it turned out to be acid. Upon drinking it, the girl's health deteriorated and she had to be hospitalized. This incident warns us not to be blind when buying water from the market. Therefore, it's important to know what to consider when buying a bottle of water.
Seal the check
The first and most important thing to consider before purchasing a water bottle is its seal. The bottle cap should be completely sealed. If the seal is broken or the cap feels loose, replace it immediately.
Check out the plastic quality
Pay close attention to the bottle's plastic quality and the label. Counterfeit or duplicate water sellers often use names similar to well-known brands (such as Bilseiri or Bresleri instead of Bisleri).
Check the manufacturing date
When purchasing a bottle, carefully read the manufacturing date and expiration date. If the date has passed, do not consume this water.
Check License Number
Each package is printed with the ISI mark and FSSAI license number. Selling drinking water without these marks is illegal in India. If these two marks are missing from the bottle, do not buy that water at all.
Check with light
Hold the bottle in your hand and hold it up to the light. The water should be completely clear, transparent, and colorless. If you notice any cloudiness in the water, it may be contaminated.
Note: Incidents like those India prove that safety always lies in our own hands. The next time you buy a bottle of water, don't rush.
