While FIFA investigates Argentina's actions following the World Cup final, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente described the events as "unacceptable".
FIFA tasked one of its disciplinary investigators last Monday with preparing a report on the tense clashes that took place at the stadium after Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina in extra time, snatching the World Cup title from the defending champions.
Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes got into physical confrontations with Spain duo Eric Garcia and Gavi, while Spain captain Rodri suffered a blow to the stomach as he passed by Argentina defender Nahuel Molina.
"This cannot be allowed," De la Fuente told Spanish state television TVE on Friday, adding that he did not witness the events at the time because he was "celebrating with other people."
He added, "In any case, I consider what happened to be intolerable and unacceptable from players of this level, whom I had praised in previous days, and who also have a great coach."
FIFA has not revealed any details regarding the scope of the investigator's mission in the case, or whether he will seek statements from players and members of the Spanish national team's coaching staff.
The disciplinary regulations of FIFA allow the special investigator to "request the opening of disciplinary proceedings and propose sanctions against member associations, clubs and individuals."
FIFA has not set any timetable for considering the case, and it remains unclear when any potential sanctions against the Argentine players could be implemented, given that the national team has no official matches scheduled for the coming months.
