Deputy Chairman of Perbasi: The large number of tournaments is good for the national team's talent pool

Azrul Ananda, Deputy Chairman for Competition and Development of the Central Executive Board of the All-Indonesia Basketball Association
said that the large number of basketball tournaments held in Indonesia has had a positive impact on expanding the talent pool for the benefit of the national team.

According to him, the 2026-2027 DBL competition complements the coaching ecosystem, which has also been strengthened through various inter-club age-group championships held by the DPP Perbasi for the past two years.

He explained that the presence of competitions from various channels is considered to provide more opportunities for young players to develop and demonstrate their abilities.

Perbasi views the DBL as having fulfilled its role in developing student basketball, while the federation is attempting to balance this through various inter-club championships for 16- and 18-year-olds that are more carefully packaged.
