The FIFA Fan Village, an entertainment facility provided by FIFA for supporters and the public during the 2026 World Cup, in New York, United States (US), was closed due to bad weather.
"If you want, come back tomorrow," said a New York police officer Bletnitsky at the Fan Village New York location, Rockefeller Center, Saturday.
The closure of the area disappointed some visitors as they were unable to enjoy the services inside, including the FIFA Museum's "Legacies of Champions" exhibition.
Not only will various recreational games be unavailable, but the public will also be unable to watch the 2026 World Cup third-place match between France and England there.
New York authorities initially predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms with the potential for flooding on Saturday. Warnings had already been issued the day before.
In fact, heavy rain had been pounding New York since the morning. After easing off in the afternoon, the downpour returned around 7:40 PM local time.
Watching together and all other services at the Fan Village will be available again on Sunday (July 19), the day of the 2026 World Cup final.
Supporters who do not have tickets can watch the tournament's final match there.
