Former unified heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury defeated Mariusz Wach to claim the World Boxing Council METTA Humanitarian belt, bringing him one step closer to a fight against Anthony Joshua.
"Fury launched a powerful combination of punches throughout the fight, hitting his opponent's body and head until Wach's camp decided to stop the fight at the end of the seventh round," the WBC said in an official statement, monitored.
In the fight that took place at the Maz Muay Thai Stadium, Pattaya, Thailand, Friday (24/7) night, Fury, who once held the WBC, WBA Super, IBF, WBO, and IBO world titles at the same time, completely controlled the fight against his Polish opponent.
Fury wasted no time asserting his authority. The British former world champion began with his trademark feints and unpredictable upper body movement, using sharp jabs to the head and body to establish distance while repeatedly provoking Wach's reactions.
Wach tried to improve his performance in the second round, but Fury's constant feints and movement disrupted the rhythm of the match, and the two traded blows in a spirited end to the session.
