Prema Rajesh Jha made her second pregnancy safe and enjoyable by learning from her first mistakes. So, it's important to know which mistakes to avoid.
After raising a child, when you decide to become a parent for the second time, it's a beautiful journey. In the first instance, due to lack of experience or pressure from others, many mistakes are often made, which affect the mental and physical health of both the child and the parents. It's wise to learn from past mistakes and make the second time around more enjoyable and stress-free. Prema Rajesh Jha shared her personal experience, explaining how she recognized her first-time parenting mistakes and achieved a better parenting experience. We also consulted with Dr. Nancy Garg, gynecologist at Rana Hospital Buland .
Common first parenting mistakes
According to Prema Rajesh Jha, the excitement and responsibility of becoming a first-time mother led her to make many mistakes. The biggest mistake was blindly accepting everyone's parenting advice.
Additionally, the constant stress of caring for her baby and the complete neglect of herself proved costly. During her first years as a parent, she struggled to adjust her sleep schedule to her baby's, overfeeding her baby, and, worried about her safety, kept her sleeping instead of keeping her active. Immediately after delivery, the immense pressure of household and child responsibilities, without adequate time for her body, led to her physical weakness.
Benefits of parenting the second time around
When Prema embarked on her second parenthood journey, she learned from her past mistakes and didn't take any risks. The biggest advantage of second-time parenting is the experience. This time, instead of listening to random people, Prema relied directly on the guidance of her previous doctor and expert. They knew how to set a routine for her child and when to be cautious. This time, she didn't unnecessarily stress about her child's safety; instead, she calmly enjoyed every activity of her child. This past experience allowed her to better manage both herself and her child.
Expert opinion
Newborns have very weak immunity, so to prevent infection, avoid letting anyone hold them. Don't compromise on your sleep and a nutritious diet while caring for your baby. Avoid unhealthy outside food altogether.
