Haier to launch AI-based products in Indonesia

Chinese home appliance manufacturer Haier will gradually launch premium artificial intelligence (AI)-based products in Indonesia.

"We have now entered the era of artificial intelligence or AI. We have various AI-based products and smart home products and will gradually launch all of these products in Indonesia," said Vice President of Haier Smart Home Overseas, Zhang Qingfu, at Haier's headquarters in Qingdao, Shandong Province.

Haier has been present in Indonesia since 2011 by acquiring the Sanyo Electric business, including all operations in Indonesia and establishing a new company called PT Haier Electrical Appliances Indonesia (HEI).

The company has operated a factory in the EJIP Industrial Park, Cikarang, since 2012, under the "AQUA" brand. It produces refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, cold chain freezers, and televisions, with a production capacity of 2 million units. In April 2026, HEI produced its 10 millionth unit.

"Indonesia is an important market for us. We have established a factory and distribution company in Indonesia to help us serve our customers," Zhang added.

Zhang said that air conditioning or AC products are superior products in Indonesia.

"Indonesia has high humidity and hot temperatures. In such conditions, people need air conditioning, but they also require various additional functions, for example, consumers need antibacterial functions," said Zhang.
