The Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" welcomed the decision of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, which considered the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip to be "genocide".
The movement called for an arms embargo on the Israeli entity and a boycott of it.
In a press release, the movement described the decision as "a position consistent with the values of justice and humanity," and an expression of genuine "moral responsibility" in the face of the ongoing violations against the Palestinian people.
Hamas linked the importance of this position to the developments on the ground in the Gaza Strip, noting that it comes in light of the occupation government – which it described as “oppressive” – continuing its war against civilians and reneging on its obligations under the ceasefire agreement.
She stressed that this position coincides with the "state of international inaction" regarding holding the occupation accountable for what she described as "horrific" crimes, which targeted all segments of the Palestinian people and destroyed civilian infrastructure, including places of worship such as mosques and churches.
In closing its statement, the movement commended the Presbyterian Church of America for calling for practical decisions and actions to stop the violations, and directed an urgent appeal to all religious and political institutions around the world to take immediate action to aid the people of Gaza.
She also called for exposing the plans of what she described as "war criminal" Benjamin Netanyahu aimed at continuing the genocide, and for working hard to hold him and the leaders of the entity accountable for their crimes against humanity.
