Indonesia is strengthening its role in artificial intelligence (AI) governance by becoming one of the 29 founding countries of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) through the signing of a declaration establishing the organization in Shanghai.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Angga Raka Prabowo stated in a press release received in Jakarta on Friday that Indonesia's participation in WAICO represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen national AI governance in line with international best practices, while simultaneously opening up opportunities for cross-border collaboration in developing an inclusive and responsible AI ecosystem.
According to Angga, Indonesia's membership as a founding member of WAICO strengthens Indonesia's position in developing global AI governance while expanding international collaboration to build a responsible AI ecosystem.
