The Indonesian U18 men's national volleyball team secured its first victory at the 2026 Asian U18 Men's Volleyball Championship after defeating Hong Kong 3-0 at the Wuyuanhe Gymnasium in Haikou, China.
Udi Hermanto's team finished the final match of Pool A in three straight sets with a score of 25-16, 25-14, 25-20.
Indonesia immediately took control of the game in the first set by scoring five consecutive points.
The lead was further widened to 18-8 through pressure from Hong Kong's serve and attacks that were difficult to contain.
Despite the opponent's attempts to catch up, Indonesia was still able to maintain the distance to close the opening set with a score of 25-16.
Hong Kong put up a tougher fight at the start of the second set. However, Indonesia regained its rhythm and pulled away in the points.
Rismana Muniar Ditto and friends performed consistently to win the second set with a score of 25-14.
Indonesia regained the lead, 11-6, in the third set. Hong Kong briefly reduced the deficit to 13-10, scoring four consecutive points when trailing 12-19.
The Red and White team was able to suppress Hong Kong's comeback and secured victory after ending the third set with a score of 25-20.
This result marked Indonesia's first win in three Pool A matches. Previously, Indonesia lost 1-3 (23-25, 24-26, 25-21, 20-25) to host China and was defeated 0-3 (30-32, 16-25, 24-26) by Taiwan.
Indonesia ended the preliminary round in third place in Pool A and then continued its struggle in the ninth to 16th ranking classification matches.
