Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar were subjected to an Iranian missile and drone attack early Friday morning, amid the activation of sirens and the implementation of extensive security measures in the two countries.
In Bahrain, the Ministry of Interior announced the activation of sirens throughout the kingdom, calling on citizens and residents to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.
The ministry said in a brief statement via its official account that "the sirens have been activated," and urged citizens and residents to "remain calm, head to the nearest safe place, and follow developments through official channels."
In Kuwait, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that sirens sounded across the country as air defenses intercepted missile and drone attacks.
The Kuwaiti Army General Staff announced that air defense systems are currently responding to missile and drone attacks, confirming that the attacks came in the wake of "Iranian aggression".
The Kuwaiti army explained that the sounds of explosions that may be heard in some areas are the result of interception operations carried out by air defense systems against hostile targets.
The General Staff called on citizens and residents to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the competent authorities, and to follow the guidelines and updates through official channels.
Explosions were also heard in the Qatari capital, Doha, early Friday morning, likely caused by the operation of air defense systems.
The explosions came shortly after Doha residents received notifications on their mobile phones from the Qatari Interior Ministry, informing them of a heightened security threat level and urging them to remain in safe places until further notice.
This escalation comes as the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the start of a new wave of military strikes against Iran at 2 p.m. Eastern Time, asserting that the operations aim to "further undermine Iranian military capabilities."
