Jordan McLaughlin returns to Spurs on a one-year contract

The San Antonio Spurs have decided to re-sign Jordan McLaughlin for one year with a contract worth US$3.3 million, after the guard had been a free agent .

The NBA website said Wednesday that the deal will see the 30-year-old enter his ninth NBA season and will also see him join the team through the 2026-2027 season.

McLaughlin has been a key member of Spurs' squad, making 44 appearances in the 2025-2026 season.

During his time at the Spurs, he served as a backup point guard and is expected to bring experience to the Spurs' back line, which is filled with young players, including De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper.

According to NBA data, McLaughlin averaged two points per game , 0.9 assists per game , and 0.7 rebounds per game  in 6.4 minutes of play per game throughout the regular season.

He also posted a three-point shooting accuracy of 42.5 percent, aka one of the best in his career.

Jordan McLaughlin joined the Spurs from the Sacramento Kings in a trade that also included De'Aaron Fox in 2025.

Since then, he has become a key option off the bench thanks to his experience and ability to control the game.

The decision to retain McLaughlin is part of Spurs' efforts to maintain continuity in the team composition ahead of the new season, having previously retained several key players in the free transfer window.
