Kuwait announced that it had thwarted two waves of Iranian drone attacks since dawn on Monday, while Bahrain sounded sirens across the country.
The Kuwaiti army said in two statements published since dawn on Monday via its account on the “X” platform that the air defenses “repelled attacks by hostile drones, following the Iranian aggression.”
He added that “the sounds of explosions that may be heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting attacks,” calling on everyone to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the competent authorities.
In Bahrain, the Ministry of Interior issued two announcements since dawn on Monday, calling on citizens and residents to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place, after the sirens sounded, without further details.
For its part, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Monday that it had bombed American military targets in Kuwait, according to the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).
A statement from the Revolutionary Guard, carried by the agency, said that its forces “completely destroyed an early warning radar system belonging to the American enemy through a drone attack. In another attack, they targeted a warehouse for aviation equipment and parts and a hangar for American MQ-9 drones at Ali Al Salem base, resulting in a number of drones catching fire.”
On Sunday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced that Iranian attacks with missiles and drones had caused “serious damage” to civilian and vital facilities in the country.
Defense Ministry spokesman Saud Al-Atwan said in a statement that “since dawn on Sunday, the armed forces have detected hostile ballistic missiles and drones inside Kuwaiti airspace, and they were intercepted and dealt with.”
Al-Atwan added that “the heinous Iranian aggression continues to target civilian and vital facilities in the country.”
He added: “The attacks targeted facilities belonging to the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, which led to fires breaking out and causing serious damage to a number of its vital facilities and installations.”
Earlier on Sunday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced that a fire had broken out at one of its power and water desalination plants following an Iranian attack, for the second time in two days.
She added that the fire affected a large number of electricity generation units, which necessitated activating emergency plans and dealing immediately with the incident to reduce its effects and maintain the stability of the electrical system.
On Friday, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced that one of its power and water desalination plants was attacked, resulting in damage to its facilities, a fire, and damage to a large number of electricity generation units.
