Spain star Lamine Djamel revealed what words he received from Argentina captain Lionel Messi after their match on Sunday evening in the World Cup final.
MetLife Stadium hosted the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain in the 2026 edition of the World Cup, where the latter won 1-0.
Following the match, Lamine Jamal and Lionel Messi exchanged a touching hug, and the former revealed what the Argentine captain had told him in statements published by the English newspaper "Metro".
Lamine Jamal said : "Messi is the greatest player in history. He is someone I have always considered a role model. I wanted to show my respect for him after the match."
He added, "He told me to continue my journey and that the future belongs to our generation. These words are like the gold medal I wear; they are worth more than it."
He continued: "If someone had told me a few years ago that I would be here to lift the World Cup after playing against Lionel Messi, I would have thought he was crazy."
Following the match, Lamine Jamal, the World Cup winner, hugged Lionel Messi tightly and consoled him after Argentina lost the title.
