Marine Le Pen, leader of France's far-right National Rally party, stated that the Court of Appeal's decision in her case would be of "historic importance".
Le Pen argued that the decision "could hinder the progress of democracy in our country. It could be an attempt to make the decision for us."
Speaking to supporters of her party in northern France on Saturday, she continued: "Its consequences will be of historical importance because things will never be the same again after the judges' decision."
Le Pen confirmed her determination to continue the fight for the presidency, and to appoint the head of her official party, Jordan Bardella, as prime minister if she wins.
She announced that she would support Bardella's election campaign if she were barred from participating in the presidential elections by a court decision.
It is worth noting that the French judiciary is considering a case in which Le Pen is accused of embezzling funds from the European Parliament's budget to employ her assistants.
On March 31, 2025, the court sentenced her to 4 years in prison, which also prevents her from participating in elections for 5 years.
Le Pen appealed the court's decision. The Paris Court of Appeal is expected to issue its ruling on the case on July 7.
If the appeals court upholds the ruling against Le Pen, she will be unable to run in the next presidential election in 2027.
