Lebanon Health Ministry: Israeli bombing death toll rises to 4,301, with more than 12,000 wounded

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Friday that the death toll from Israeli shelling of Lebanon has risen to 4,301, with 12,199 wounded since March 2, as tension continues on the southern border.

The announcement of the toll coincided with an escalation on the ground in southern Lebanon, where Lebanese media reported that the Israeli army carried out sweeps with heavy machine guns targeting the outskirts of the town of Mefdoun, and an Israeli helicopter dropped sound bombs on the town of Nabatieh al-Fouqa, while the town of Kfar Tebnit witnessed similar sweeps.

Earlier today, an Israeli drone dropped sound bombs towards the town of Safad al-Batikh, coinciding with intensive Israeli drone activity in the skies over Beirut and Baalbek.

For its part, the Israeli army announced that it had launched airstrikes targeting about 10 infrastructure sites that it said belonged to Hezbollah in the areas of Bint Jbeil, Beit Yahoun, Qounine and Barashit in southern Lebanon, stressing that the strikes came in response to the targeting of its forces inside what it described as the “security zone”, in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli army added that it also targeted a truck that it said Hezbollah operatives were using to transport weapons near the security zone.
