Light rain accompanied the atmosphere ahead of the match between Algeria and Switzerland

Rain that has been pouring down on Vancouver since morning has made the atmosphere at BC Place Stadium appear quieter ahead of the 2026 World Cup round of 32 match between Algeria and Switzerland.

the field around two hours before kick-off, rain was still falling with light to moderate intensity.

These conditions meant that activity in the fan zone was less hectic than during the Belgium vs. New Zealand match a few days earlier. Nevertheless, a steady stream of fans headed to the stadium, either by SkyTrain, bus, or on foot from downtown Vancouver.

Most fans came wearing raincoats, waterproof jackets, and carrying umbrellas to protect themselves from the light rain. Others opted to take shelter under canopies or in the surrounding commercial areas while waiting to enter the stadium.

The Algerian fans' chants could be heard breaking through the drizzle, then greeted by applause and chants from Swiss supporters that echoed around the BC Place area.

Although the fan zone wasn't as crowded as previous matches, a number of supporters still took the time to take photos with BC Place Stadium as a backdrop, purchase official 2026 World Cup souvenirs, and capture moments with family and fellow supporters.
