Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid emphasized that Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic Systems for Child Protection was drafted to help parents protect children in the digital space, not to replace their role in parenting.
In a statement received on Sunday, the government, Meutya said, has stipulated that children under the age of 16 are not allowed to have accounts on high-risk social media as part of efforts to protect children from various risks in the digital space.
"This regulation helps parents, not replaces them," said Meutya at the Movement with Indonesian Children event.
