Morocco national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi acknowledged the superior quality of the French players after his team lost 0-2 in the 2026 World Cup quarter-final match at Boston Stadium, United States, on Friday.
Despite being able to suppress France's attacks in the first half, goals from Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele meant Morocco had to accept defeat.
"We have to admit we faced a very good opponent. We struggled a lot in the first half, and Bounou's penalty save kept us in the game. In the second half, we defended better and were more composed in possession. In the end, it was a great individual performance from Mbappé," said Ouahbi, as reported by FIFA.
Ouahbi admitted he was disappointed with the result, but said his team had given their best despite the limited squad.
He highlighted the lack of bench options when the team was hit by injuries, the absence of several players, and fatigue due to the tight match schedule.
