The "Atlas Lions" secured their passage to the quarter-finals, following a well-deserved victory with goals from Azzedine Ounahi and Soufiane Rahimi, who scored a third goal, allowing the team to continue its outstanding run in the tournament.
According to what was published by the Hesport newspaper account on the X platform, King Mohammed VI congratulated the players after this achievement, in a telephone call that brought him together with both coach Mohamed Wahbi and the team captain Ashraf Hakimi, praising the performance and results.
The Moroccan national team began its journey in the World Cup with a draw against Brazil (1-1), before achieving victory over Scotland and Haiti, thus securing the top spot in its group and qualifying for the knockout stages.
Morocco continued its impressive run in the knockout stages, after overcoming the Netherlands on penalties (3-2) following a 1-1 draw in both regular and extra time.
