New statement from the Sudanese army regarding its battles with the Rapid Support Forces

The Sudanese Armed Forces announced a series of field gains in their military operations against the Rapid Support Forces, confirming the destruction of hundreds of military vehicles, the capture of others, and the recapture of new areas.

The General Command of the Armed Forces said in a press statement issued on Tuesday that the Armed Forces and supporting forces continued to carry out qualitative operations on various battlefronts during the period from June 15 to June 30, noting that the operations resulted in the destruction of 224 combat vehicles, the capture of 36 combat vehicles, the downing of a strategic drone, the destruction of two tanks, five trucks loaded with military equipment, and four fuel trucks, in addition to the destruction of two ammunition depots and two fuel depots.

The statement explained that the North Darfur axis witnessed operations described as qualitative in the Abu Qumra area, which the army said resulted in the destruction of 39 combat vehicles and inflicted heavy losses on the Rapid Support Forces. The air defenses also announced the downing of a strategic drone north of the city of Tawisha.

In West Darfur, the army reported that it carried out a military operation in and around the city of Kulbus, during which it destroyed 10 combat vehicles and seized 29 other vehicles with all their equipment, after forcing the Rapid Support Forces to withdraw from the area.

The statement added that operations in North Kordofan resulted in the destruction of 119 combat vehicles, in addition to the destruction of 4 fuel trucks, 5 military trucks and two fuel depots, while the army in South Kordofan announced the destruction of 27 combat vehicles and the continuation of combing operations and securing the targeted areas.

In the Blue Nile region, the army said it had managed to recapture the areas of Sarkam and Maqja after what it described as decisive battles, noting that the operations resulted in the destruction of 29 combat vehicles and two tanks, and the capture of 7 combat vehicles, in addition to the destruction of two ammunition depots in the city of Kurmuk.

The Sudanese Armed Forces, in concluding their statement, affirmed the continuation of their military operations until "all parts of the country are cleansed" of the Rapid Support Forces, and security and stability are established throughout Sudan.

Since April 2023, Sudan has been witnessing a war between the Sudanese Armed Forces, led by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Army Commander, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), which has led to one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises, according to United Nations estimates.

Over the past months, the scope of the confrontations has expanded to include the states of Darfur, Kordofan, Blue Nile and the capital Khartoum, amid continued mutual military operations, while the parties to the conflict exchange announcements of achieving field gains on various fronts.

Regional and international parties are seeking to push for de-escalation efforts and the resumption of the political process, but fighting continues on a number of fronts, with the humanitarian situation worsening and millions of civilians displaced inside and outside Sudan.
