On the eve of the match against Morocco, FIFA delivers a major blow to the French national team.

France coach Didier Deschamps announced that FIFA had officially rejected a request to cancel the yellow card received by "Les Bleus" star Michael Ulissi during the match against Paraguay

France coach Didier Deschamps announced that FIFA had officially rejected a request to cancel the yellow card received by "Les Bleus" star Michael Ulissi during the match against Paraguay.

The French star received a yellow card during the match against Paraguay in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, which the French won with a clean goal.

French network RMC Sport quoted Deschamps as saying: "The yellow card has not been cancelled. We received official notification from FIFA about this this morning (Wednesday)."

This came after reports confirmed that the French Football Federation had submitted a formal request to cancel the warning in order to spare Ulissi the specter of suspension.

This decision puts the French star under immense pressure, because if he receives another yellow card in the anticipated quarter-final match tomorrow, Thursday, against the Moroccan national team, he will be automatically suspended from the semi-final match if "Les Bleus" qualify.

The 24-year-old Ulissi, who has been shining for Bayern Munich since joining them in the summer of 2024 from Crystal Palace, is one of Deschamps' most important assets, currently topping the list of the best goal creators in the World Cup with five assists.
