Press reports have revealed the most prominent condition that could pave the way for Mostafa Shobeir, the goalkeeper of Al-Ahly and the Egyptian national team, to join Aston Villa during the current summer transfer window.
Mostafa Shobeir (26 years old) received interest from several European clubs after his outstanding performance with the Egyptian national team in the 2026 World Cup, where he contributed to the "Pharaohs" reaching the round of 16 of the World Cup before narrowly losing to Argentina.
Reports indicate that Shobeir Jr. is also attracting interest from Spanish clubs Sevilla and Girona, in addition to Aston Villa.
Aston Villa are looking to sign a new goalkeeper to succeed Argentine Emiliano Martinez, and the English club's shortlist includes a number of prominent goalkeepers, most notably Mostafa Shobeir.
According to a report by ON Sport channel, Mostafa Shobeir’s continued participation as a starter with the Egyptian national team, and his playing a larger number of international matches, will make him one of the most prominent candidates to move to Aston Villa.
The report added that renewing the goalkeeper's contract with Al-Ahly does not represent any obstacle to completing the deal in the future, as he is one of the club's own.
Al Ahly's goalkeeping roster includes Mohamed El Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, Mohamed Siha, and Hamza Alaa, in addition to Mostafa Makhlouf, who returned to the team after the end of his loan to Modern Sport.
Al-Ahly began its preparation period for the new season under the leadership of technical director Hussein Ammouta, in the absence of the international players, who will join gradually after the end of their vacations following their participation in the World Cup finals, before moving to the second phase of preparation in Spain at the end of July.
