Persebaya Surabaya could only manage a 2-2 draw against PSIS Semarang in the "Persebaya 99 Anniversary Game" match at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya on Sunday.
Persebaya's goals were scored by Alex Martins in the 35th minute and Yan Mabela in the 52nd minute. PSIS's goals were scored by Lorensius Sabda in the 74th and 84th minutes.
In the first half, Persebaya immediately put pressure on the PSIS defense from the start. In the first minute, Francisco Rivera threatened the PSIS goal with an individual move, but his shot went wide after being saved by goalkeeper Rizky Darmawan.
PSIS, coached by Widodo Cahyono Putro, tried to overcome the pressure and built several attacks. However, Abduh Lestaluhu and his teammates' efforts were thwarted by the Persebaya back line.
Persebaya created another chance in the 17th minute. Arief Catur Pamungkas crossed from the left flank and Rivera took a shot. The ball hit a PSIS defender and fell to Pereira, but his shot went wide of the PSIS goal.
