The Rapid Bucharest women's 3x3 basketball team continued its impressive run by winning the International Basketball Federation 3x3 Women's Series Baku 2026 in Azerbaijan, after defeating Austria 17-12 in the final.
The FIBA 3x3 website reported on Monday that the achievement marked Bucharest's second consecutive championship in the 2026 Women's Series. The Romanian team also won the Caceres series in Spain a week ago.
In the Baku series, they finished the tournament unbeaten since the group stage thanks to disciplined defense and effective collective play. In the final, Bucharest immediately took control of the match, taking a 3-0 lead before widening the lead to 11-4 midway through the match.
Austria briefly reduced the deficit to 12-15 near the end of the game, but Ainhoa Gervasini's two-pointer sealed the victory. Marta Miscenko was Bucharest's top scorer with six points. They also forced eight turnovers and recorded four assists , one more than their opponents .
Before reaching the final, Rapid Bucharest topped Group B after defeating Singapore and the Czech Republic. They then eliminated Spain in the quarterfinals and defeated Slovenia 19-18 in overtime in the semifinals.
For Austria, their final appearance marked their best finish in the 2026 Women's Series. Austria advanced to the final after defeating Spain, Brazil, the Czech Republic, and Lithuania.
Bucharest's Hortense Limouzin was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) after leading the league in points, highlights , and double-fives , as well as finishing second in points and rebounds .
