Richest people are expected to gain nearly $5 billion in 2026

The combined wealth of Richest businessmen has increased by $4.82 billion since the beginning of 2026, according to data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI).

The index is calculated based on the market capitalization of the shares held by billionaires in listed companies. For some companies, the valuation is based on the ratio of market capitalization to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) or the price-to-earnings per share (P/E) ratio.

The index includes 500 of the world’s richest people, and currently includes 20 Russian figures. The value of the Russian figures’ wealth reached $297.15 billion by July.

The largest increase in wealth was recorded by Severstal founder Alexei Mordashov, whose fortune rose to $28.6 billion. He was followed by Novatek CEO Leonid Mikhelson ($25.5 billion), Eurochem and SWIK founders Andrey Melnichenko ($20.6 billion) and Gennady Timchenko ($15.4 billion), and Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UGMK) founder Iskander Makhmudov ($8.6 billion).

The fortunes of Mikhail Fridman ($10.7 billion), Suleiman Kerimov ($11 billion), and Tatiana Kim ($8.3 billion) also increased.

The richest people in the world

The list of the world's richest people is topped by American businessman Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and SpaceX, whose wealth has increased by $391 billion since the beginning of the year, reaching $1.01 trillion.

In second and third place, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin maintained their positions, with Page's wealth increasing by $32.2 billion to $301 billion, while Brin's wealth increased by $29.9 billion to $280 billion.

In fourth place is still Jeff Bezos, the founder of the American company "Amazon", whose wealth increased by $8.42 billion to reach $262 billion.

Fifth place goes to Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell Technologies, whose wealth has increased by $77.1 billion since the beginning of the year to reach $217 billion.

Larry Ellison, the Oracle co-founder who was ranked fifth last month, has slipped to sixth place, with his fortune decreasing by $44.9 billion to $202 billion.
