During the INPOPROM-2026 exhibition held in Yekaterinburg, the Ural Civil Aviation Plant unveiled the new Russian turbofan engine "VK-800".

This propulsion unit was designed with a power ranging between 806 and 877 horsepower, in a classic design equipped with a centrifugal compressor.

The new engine is available in three models: a model for the LMS-901 "Baikal" light aircraft, a model for the UTS-800 training aircraft, and a model for the Russian-Belarusian regional multi-role aircraft "Osfi" (VK-800S1).

Prior to the exhibition's opening, certification tests for the engine commenced on a dedicated platform. The engine was tested for 150 hours under extreme operating conditions to assess its reliability, durability, and performance stability in conditions closely resembling real-world operating scenarios.

The exhibition features a life-size model of the UTS-800, a new-generation training aircraft that will soon begin its flight trials with the VK-800SP engine.

The UTS-800 is designed for pilot training, practicing complex maneuvers, handling emergency situations, and performing navigation tasks. It maintains its maneuverability while maintaining low operating costs and can take off from any type of runway.

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade anticipates high demand for the new "Osfi " aircraft.

Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Gennady Abramenkov told reporters that the new Russian-Belarusian aircraft "Osvi" would be in high demand. Speaking on the sidelines of the Innoprom International Industrial Exhibition, he said, "I believe this aircraft will be in demand in the market and will have many operators."

Therefore, according to the deputy minister, work on testing this aircraft must be completed. The twin-engine, multi-purpose light aircraft "Osvi" was first presented in September 2025 at the "Innoprom Belarus" exhibition. It is designed for domestic and regional routes.

The Russian air transport agency Rosaviatsiya had previously announced that carriers had placed orders for 59 aircraft of this type, which would be manufactured by 2035. It is planned that Osfy would receive all the necessary certification documents by the end of 2029.
