Dr. Valery Litvinov, a senior researcher in the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology at Perm National Technical University, stated that warm drinks are better than cold drinks in hot weather.

He says: "Warm drinks stimulate sweating, which cools the body. Iced drinks, on the contrary, cause an undesirable rise in temperature."

According to him, many people mistakenly believe that ice water cools down faster, but in reality, it activates heat receptors in the mouth and throat, which send a signal to the brain that it interprets as a danger sign indicating hypothermia. As a result, blood vessels in the skin constrict, and heat transfer decreases.

He says: “A hot drink stimulates the sweating mechanism, where the body begins to release and evaporate sweat, which is the most effective way to cool the body in hot weather. Iced water, on the contrary, slows down this process and forces the body to retain heat, which leads to a rise in its temperature. Therefore, hot tea or coffee without sugar cools the body, while iced water has the opposite effect.”
