Spanish national team fans are happy that their favorite squad won the 2026 World Cup and have taken a swipe at Argentina captain Lionel Messi.
"We played very well in the tournament, continued to show positive results and finally won it," said Alex, a supporter of the Spanish national team, after the final match at the New York Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
According to him, Spain fully deserved to be champions due to their consistent performance throughout the 2026 World Cup. They were undefeated and only conceded once during the four-yearly tournament.
"That's why Cubarsi deserved to be named the best young player of the tournament and Rodri the best player," said Alex.
Alex was also pleased that Spain kept Argentina's captain, Lionel Messi, at bay in the final. Spain won the match 1-0 thanks to a 106th-minute goal from Ferran Torres.
"I'm happy we beat Messi in the final," he said.
Two other Spanish national team supporters, Luis and Carlos, also expressed similar feelings after "La Furia Roja" successfully lifted their second World Cup trophy after 2010.
"Our performance was outstanding," said Luis.
