Dr. Elizabeta Schuchmann, a dermatologist, confirmed that sun sensitivity does not cause a rash on the face.

Schuchman explained that the most common type of photodermatitis usually appears during the spring, noting that the skin gradually adapts to regular exposure to sunlight, which leads to a decrease in symptoms over time.

She warned that skin reactions may also result from the use of certain medications or cosmetics, or from contact with the sap of certain plants, which in some cases may lead to skin burns.

She added that there is a less common condition known as solar urticaria, whose symptoms appear within minutes of exposure to sunlight, and consist of red spots resembling a rash resulting from contact with the nettle plant, accompanied by severe itching, stressing that this condition requires medical evaluation.

The doctor advised avoiding sun exposure when these symptoms appear and using antihistamines if the itching or redness is severe. She also stressed the importance of consulting a doctor if the rash spreads or appears for the first time. Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of using sunscreen to prevent skin reactions associated with sun exposure.
