The European Union is increasing its imports of Russian liquefied natural gas.

Data showed that EU imports of Russian liquefied gas rose 10% in June compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 2.169 billion cubic meters.

This came according to an analysis based on data from Bruegel.
EU imports of Russian gas reached a record high in March, the highest level since the company began tracking the data in 2019, at 2.459 billion cubic meters. Although they subsequently declined, import levels remain high compared to previous years, even as the EU embarks on a plan to phase out Russian gas supplies.

Conversely, EU imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Middle East ceased for the second consecutive month in June 2026, registering zero, due to the halt in production in Qatar. During the first half of this year, the region's supplies fell by more than half, a decrease of 2.5 times, reaching 2.601 billion cubic meters.

As for liquefied natural gas imports from the Americas, they amounted to 5.78 billion cubic meters last June, a decrease of 24.6%, while during the first half of the year they recorded 44.786 billion cubic meters, a slight increase of 3.4%.

From Africa, EU imports fell by 34.5% in June to 1.299 billion cubic meters, and also decreased during the first half by 23.1% to reach 7.125 billion cubic meters.
