The family of the victim of the alleged arson case at the Rosyidatusshaulatiyyah Al Ibrahimy Islamic Boarding School, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara , sent a letter to President Prabowo Subianto.
The letter was delivered by the mother of the deceased victim with the initials SS through her attorney, Titi Tantry, in a public hearing held by Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the parliamentary complex.
The victim's mother, who spoke Sasak, could not hold back tears when asked to speak. The family's attorney then took over and delivered the letter to law enforcement legislators.
In the letter, the victim's mother said that her child was tortured and burned alive until he died. In fact, the main purpose of studying at an Islamic boarding school is to gain religious knowledge and become a good human being.
The victim's mother also admitted that she was asked to sign a peace agreement. However, she refused the request. She also claimed she had no other alternative but to the President.
"I implore the President to send your trusted people to investigate the police officers and regional officials who are involved in suppressing my son's blood," said the attorney.
"Please ensure that the law is impartial, even if the perpetrator is the child of a teacher or the owner of an Islamic boarding school. My child's life cannot be bought with a piece of peace paper," the letter said.
