Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation has delivered a new batch of Su-30SM2 fighter jets and Su-34 bombers to the Ministry of Defense, according to a statement from the company.

Rostec Corporation noted that the upgraded Su-30SM2 fighter jet has received an updated radar system that allows it to detect targets at greater distances than the previous version. It is also now capable of engaging air, ground, and sea targets without entering the engagement range of enemy air defense systems.

The Su-34 bomber is designed to carry out strikes against land, sea, and air targets, including heavily fortified installations. Additionally, it can be used for aerial reconnaissance missions.

United Aircraft Company General Manager Vadim Badikha announced that the company not only delivers aircraft equipment, but also continues to develop and modernize aircraft by taking advantage of the experience gained during their field operation.

The Su-30SM2 fighter was unveiled in 2020, and deliveries to operational units, particularly naval aviation units, began in 2021 and 2022. This version is intended to modernize the existing Su-30 fleet and is a transitional solution combining the two-seat Su-30 platform with 4++ generation technologies derived from the Su-35S fighter.

Engines: The aircraft is equipped with two AL-41F-1S engines, the same engines used in the Su-35 fighter jet. They provide a greater thrust of up to 14,500 kg with afterburner, in addition to higher fuel efficiency compared to the previous AL-31FP engines, as well as a longer operating life.

Radar and Electronics: The aircraft is equipped with the N035 Irbis-E radar, a passive electronically scanned array (PES) radar capable of detecting fighter-sized targets at ranges of up to 400 kilometers. It can track 30 targets and engage 8 simultaneously. It is also equipped with an advanced electronic warfare (EW) system.

Cockpit: The aircraft features a fully digital cockpit (a "glass" cockpit), in addition to a pilot's helmet display system.
