Following the conclusion of the largest edition in World Cup history, which saw the Spanish national team crowned champions, the "Transfermarkt" website announced an update to the market values of the players who excelled in the tournament.
The update included 99 players from the most prominent stars of the 2026 World Cup, with stars Lamine Jamal, a player for the Spanish national team, and Erling Haaland, the striker for the Norwegian national team, topping the list with a record market value.
According to the new assessments, the market value of both Jamal and Haaland reached approximately 220 million euros, breaking the world record for player value, and the value of each of them increased by 20 million euros during the World Cup competitions.
The Norwegian striker delivered a historic performance, leading his national team to the quarter-finals before being eliminated by England with a score of 2-1.
Haaland scored 7 goals and provided 1 assist in 5 games, bringing his international tally to 62 goals in 52 appearances for Norway, an astonishing scoring rate that confirms his status as one of the world's best strikers.
Although Lamine Jamal’s numbers in the tournament were not exceptional in terms of goals, after he scored one goal and made another during 8 matches, his great talent and achievements despite his young age raised his market value to a record level.
Jamal is only 19 years old, but he has already won the World Cup and the European Championship, which has led Transfermarkt to consider him one of the greatest talents in the history of football.
The site's market value coordinator, Tobias Krüger, said that Jamal "has cemented his status as the greatest talent in the world," noting that his achievements at this age surpass those of Lionel Messi at the same age.
French star Kylian Mbappe came in third place with a market value of 200 million euros, despite having a fantastic tournament in which he scored 10 goals and made two assists, and winning the World Cup Golden Boot.
Mbappe increased his market value by 20 million euros, but he was unable to surpass Haaland and Djamel after France's loss to Spain.
The update saw a number of players enter the list of those with a market value exceeding 100 million euros, most notably:
Spaniard Pau Coparsi: His value rose to €100 million.
Argentinian Enzo Fernandez: Reached €100 million.
Englishman Elliott Anderson: His value rose to €110 million.
Englishman Morgan Rogers: His value rose to €110 million.
The 2026 World Cup, held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, saw 48 teams participate for the first time in the tournament's history, before the Spanish team won the title after defeating Argentina in the final with a clean goal scored by Ferran Torres in the 106th minute.
